The residential neighborhood of Silverado is located in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, just below the community of Somerset. At an elevation of 1,065 meters, Silverado is home to a population of about 5,000 people throughout just five square kilometers of land.

Silverado is a young community, established in 2005. Home construction began at that time, on a relatively flat, square chunk of land south of Spruce Meadows Trail and just east of the equestrian sports facility Spruce Meadows. Silverado Wetpond is a historic landmark on the east end of the development next to Sheriff King Street.
