They didn’t use the type of oil recommended in the user manual several times. Even after I expressed my concern about the oil type, the front desk insisted they were professionals. I didn’t argue with them at the time because I didn’t have enough knowledge about engine oil. However, after doing some research recently, I realized that last winter my engine failed to start several times during extremely cold weather. My car is a 2023 Corolla, and the user manual recommends 0W-8, which is better for fuel efficiency and easier starting in cold temperatures. Instead, they used 0W-16, and sometimes even 0W-20. This has been a very bad experience.

Was told to bring the car in for a. Rw tire change at 8am to guarantee a bay open. An hour and a bit later I was on my way. Friendly staff, well informed. An enjoyable experience. Recommend to anybody that wants to trust their car to professionals.

I recently had a few things done at this shop including tires. I had them install new rubber on the stock rims that I drove my car off the lot in. A few days after getting it back my tire pressure monitor fault light came on so I called and they told me to come by and they would take a look. The main tire guy at the shop then proceeded to tell me the rims don't have sensors in them even thou every other time I've had them on this message never showed up. They pretty much just shrugged me off even thou I said it didn't make a ton of sense they didn't seem to care. Will not be going back unless it's for warranty work.

I've never been scammed like this before. I needed to replace the alternator belt and a wheel bearing. After the inspection, they called me and said the repair would cost $1,400. I asked how much it would be without replacing the belt, and they said $700. So I said, "Okay, just do the bearing, not the belt." They said fine. A minute later, they called me back and said the repair would now cost $1,200 because they had already removed the belt, and putting it back would cost an extra $500. I had no choice but to agree to have everything replaced for $1,400. After the repair, I called another shop, and they told me the same job would’ve cost $430 with them.

Hello Demetri, sorry for the delay in replying. I wanted to take the time to clearly understand the events leading to your service experience. I'm sorry that it didn't meet your expectations, and I assure you that there was no "scamming". I would like to clarify a few things up front. I understand there was a language barrier which may have contributed to some of the misunderstanding. My team member indicated that she made every effort to communicate effectively for complete understanding. You had requested us to supply and install a serpentine belt, as well as diagnose a noice concern, and an air bag concern. Our team member gave up front pricing for those 3 items, which you approved. We diagnosed the 2 concerns, then our technician began working on the belt replacement. Meanwhile we estimated the noise repair, which was for a wheel bearing. For the air bag concern we recommended a re-zeroing procedure and/or Air bag module replacement which would have to be preformed by a dealer. My team member called to review all of this and at that time you indicated you wanted us to replace the wheel bearing and to not replace the serpentine belt. We explained that we had already begun the work to replace the belt and we were at the point of installing the new belt. If we installed the old belt at this point there would still be a labour charge, which made no sense to do, so it was agreed that putting the new belt on at this point made the most sense for the money. Our charge for the belt replacement was in fact $336.53. The remainder of the charges were for the wheel bearing and reduced testing & inspecting charges for the noise and air bag concerns. The total for everything after shop materials and GST was $1462.88. I apologize if you felt pressured in some way to do "everything". We always leave our clients in control of their money through the consultation process. It made no sense to put the old belt on as we had already removed it. Had we known earlier in the process that you changed your mind we would certainly have stopped. And, I understand that you may have had some budget constraints due to unexpectedly requiring a wheel bearing, which may have had you re-prioritize the belt replacement. Unfortunately we were already performing the work you had authorized us to do, and again, it made no sense to put an old belt on at that point. We strive to help our clients keep their vehicles safe, reliable, comfortable and long-lasting. And, in control of their money! In consideration of any mis-understanding, I would like offer a reimbursement for the value of a discount offer we are extending in our mailers. I came in with my Nissan Altima 2013. As I was hearing some sound in rear tires when I apply the brakes. And the shop charged me $250 plus for the inspection. In the past I have got complete vehicle inspection for under $100. What did the shop do to charge over $250 just for inspection? They gave me the quote of $3800 to get my cars rear tires rotars, pads, springs and shockers changed, plus brake flush. I got new roaters, pads, and springs replaced for $720 (same brand as was offered by MRI) they charged me nothing for inspection and said my shockers are fine and don't needs to be replaced.

Hi Jeff. Thank you for your feedback. It important to us to help us improve our business. I am sorry we didn’t meet your expectations for service. You came to our shop with 2 concerns, one regarding a brake noise and a concern about “bouncy rear shocks and creaking noise”. Our technician performed our standard “Test, inspect & Evaluate” procedures which included road testing your vehicle, putting on our lift, removing 4 wheels, inspecting the areas of concern and performing a courtesy inspection for safety and maintenance. Upon inspection we identified that the rear brakes were metal to metal, the front brakes measured 8mm of pad life (good), so of course we recommended replacement of rear brake pads and rotors. For maintenance reasons we recommended servicing front brakes to prolong pad life and braking performance as well as a brake fluid flush (a recommended service every 2 - 3 years). Regarding the rear shocks we found both rear coil springs broken, shocks beginning to leak. Our tech suggested rear shocks but requiring rear spring replacement. All of these recommendations were documented on your work order as well as pictures of the brakes, broken rear coils springs and leaking shocked in the digital inspection you should have been sent. And yes, you were charge $79 to inspect the brake system and $127 to thoroughly test, inspect and evaluate the rear suspension concerns. Our courtesy inspection revealed other recommendations including; a new windshield to replace the cracked one, a cooling system flush (typical recommendation for a 12 year old vehicle with nearly 160,000 kms. Our goal is to help you keep your vehicle safe, reliable, comfortable and long lasting. When our clients choose to have the recommended brake work performed we do not charge for the brake inspection, so that $79 would have been credited back to you. We always estimate premium replacement parts because it the best value in the long run - and we protect you with a 3 year, 60,000 km warranty for the work we do. Additionally we offer free loaner cars, CAA Rewards, a loyalty programs, and regularly offer discount offers for our clients to take advantage of! I am happy to discuss your service experience should you wish to reach out. In the meantime, I will discuss with my team how to improve our communications.

Good service, friendly staff, but boy their labour costs must be insanely high. I had a feeling I was over paying a bit so I called my regular mechanic and asked what he would charge for the same job and my jaw dropped when it was less than a third of what MRI charged me. He quoted $240 plus shop supplies for serpentine belt, tensioner and labour. When I told him I just paid $850 he was speechless. Oh well, lesson learned. Just moved to the neighbourhood and figured I’d try the local shop nearby for convenience sake, won’t be returning that’s for sure. Note to self, when you find a good mechanic, keep going there even if it’s a 40 minute drive away. Edit: Offering to replace the part you just replaced with an “upgraded version for free!” is a bizarre way of trying to make up for a complaint that you simply charge way too much, over TRIPLE what an independent mechanic shop charges, for the exact same job and parts (including tensioner, the estimate was 240+shop supplies and tax, so $275 max).

Disappointing. Needed a repair to a stiff shifting problem. Paid $761.75 a month prior to the unresolved issue almost stranding us in the middle of nowhere. Husband ended up doing it himself in a couple of hours. He was angered to see for himself the steering cable mechanism had not been touched which was clearly evident. So it had not in fact been "checked out" by mechanic. And almost left us in a dire circumstance had we not had friends along with us...to assist us in getting home. When we tried to get MRI auto a chance to rectify our seized vehicle and make it right. We were met with paying for a tow, and more "repairs" to which husband refused to pay for more shoddy work and do it himself. We paid them to do it so he wouldn't have to, but he had to do it anyway. Upon opening the hood and beginning work he noticed greasy residue all over engine. Looks like steering fluid was over filled, not capped properly and messed all over engine. Upon closer inspection of steering fluid it was black as oil. Not something that should occur if it was just flushed and replaced a month prior. On a vehicle that has had transmission flushes prior. It should be pink or tan. Let the buyer beware at this place. Unfortunately if you want the repair done right, we had to do it ourselves rather than rely on MRI autocare☹️ After sending an email to the response below it bounced right back. This is how they roll. You've been warned. Trust those with 50 reviews or more. Those are dedicated local guides. Under 10 REVIEWS hard to take seriously which is majority of their four star reviews.

I called the shop to book an appointment, clearly providing the make and model of my car and mentioning the discount coupon I received in the mail. The representative confirmed the coupon would be honored. However, when I arrived for my appointment, I was told my vehicle did not qualify for the discount. Since the shop had all the necessary details at the time of booking, this feels misleading and unprofessional, as if I were drawn in under false pretenses. This kind of experience erodes trust and reflects poorly on the business.

While our coupon did indicate limitations for vehicles that require special oil and filters (mostly Euro vehicles), I apologize that it wasn't as clear as it could have been. Top notch service from the crew at MRI Auto. Had an issue with my Jeep. I brought it to them and by the end of that same day had a full report sent to me. Fast and friendly. However OVERCHARGED for the work that was done… had comparative quotes ( yes more than 2 quotes similar shops) which were 63% less than the final bill. Over charged by 63%! Please shop around if you have time … I didnt have the time to wait therefore paid too much … my bad. My thought is that it was local and I support local but not anymore when it comes to automotive care and not MRI AUTO. What was done … replace both struts and a sway bar link plus alignment. 2015 Mazda. Where I work would be $739 but no time to fit me in … regular off the street … $1100 …. MRI AUTO $1739.15 Ouch. only this shop could fit me in as I would have gone elsewhere.

Dishonest people here– be careful! I went in to fix a leaking rim, and instead of addressing the issue, they tried to sell me $700 worth of new tires, claiming they were “weather cracked.” I can sense BS from miles away, so I got a second opinion from Canadian Tire. They confirmed that my tires were in great condition. It’s clear this shop was trying to push unnecessary repairs. I worry they could easily take advantage of elderly customers or those less familiar with cars. Be cautious if you go here!

Upon inspection, our technician identified weather cracking on your vehicle's tires and noticed that the tires were approx. 10 - 12 years old. Most tire manufacturers recommend replacement of tires that are 10 or more years old. I am including a quote from Michelin's website as an example. "While most tires will need replacement before they achieve 10 years, it is recommended that any tires in service 10 years or more from the date of manufacture, including spare tires, be replaced with new tires as a simple precaution even if such tires appear serviceable and even if they have not reached the legal wear limit". Accordingly, due to industry guidelines, our customer's safety, and other important reasons, we recommended tire replacement. It is never our policy to "over-sell" services or repairs or take advantage of any customer, on the contrary, we strive to take the best possible care of our clients and their vehicles. Came in for an out of Province inspection. Nothing wrong with the inspection, rather what I was quoted to replace a wiper blade and rear license plate bulb. The wiper did not leave a streak, yet I was quoted $125 to replace both wipers…. The light bulb ($4) was going to cost $40-$50. Fortunately I was able to fix both issues myself for $25 in about 20 minutes, including the drive to Canadian tire and back. I get everything costs more these days, but at what point does it get embarrassing quoting these numbers.

I have had to bring my aging van in to Jim and Dave a few times recently. Their customer service on the phone and in person has been excellent. They were both very patient and thorough in their explanations of what each problem was and what needed to be done to fix it. I can also be somewhat difficult to plan drop off snd pick up times with because of my health issues. However, they have been understanding, patient, and kind about adjusting to a new plan at the last minute so that they can still get the work done for me. And, as for the costs of repairs, they are very clear and thorough in the explanations of the price of different parts separate from their labour costs which are quite reasonable. Very trustworthy people to deal with. All in all, this is a top notch experience and worth it for me to make a long drive to reach them.

Being a new customer I am satisfied with the service. But, communication to customer could be better. Dropping my car off at 8:00 a.m., the service provider said the vehicle would be ready by noon for sure. By noon there was no call. So, I phoned MRI and Dave answered and said everything was going well, and it would be a couple of more hours. He explained to me how the service works, that is delays happen. I became a bit annoyed at this point.A promised time delay can be smoothed over with a quick text. I have been dealing with auto shops for 50 years and I don’t need an explanation about how they work. No apology is necessary.

Above and beyond service. I booked my Mazda in due to a shock absorber mount that had broken on the weekend. Being in the automotive industry, I know how hard it is to get into a shop quickly they had booked me in for a Tuesday this week. However, I decided to leave the vehicle there on Monday. it is not even noon yet and they have been able to look at my vehicle, give me a quote and it will be ready by the end of the day. My alternator light came on during one of our coldest days (-35 degree weather) in January 2024. I happened to be few blocks away from this place. Brought it in and left it there to get looked at. Long story short, they replace my alternator. Now it's March 2024, my alternator light intermittently was on and off. Took it there again to get looked at. They replaced my alternator again due to faulty internals under warranty so I didnt have to pay anything. Thank you guys!

Incompetent mechanics or scammers? Brought my vehicle in for an inspection and was quoted for multiple things that were blatantly incorrect. I was told my cruise control needed to be repaired even though it worked perfectly fine, I tested it immediately after the inspection to make sure. The mechanic also mentioned the timing belt replacement, which had been done recently, but he apparently didn’t know to check the sticker on top of the timing belt cover which was very clearly showed it had been recently done. I am not overly mechanically inclined and even I was able to correct them on multiple other faults they had claimed with the vehicle. Although I’m sure some points of the inspection were valid repairs needing to be done. It’s hard to trust a mechanic making such simple mistakes.

Neither actually. We were acting in the best interest of the prospective buyer of your vehicle, who is a regular customer of ours, and who paid for the inspection. Were you paying for the inspection we would have done the same and reported the same and consulted with you accordingly on the sale of your vehicle. The cruise control did not activate during our road test, despite multiple attempts by our technician. This would indicate an intermittent problem. We understand to look for timing belt replacement stickers, because we use them ourselves. Our inspection findings are based on what we see visually during inspection and experience during our road test, without knowledge of the history of maintenance or repairs. We qualified all our recommendations with the caveat that if it was done recently (service records), then should be no cause for concern. I truly hope you and your potential buyer were able to come to terms on a deal, because ultimately that's the goal, a deal that works for both parties. I am happy to discuss further if you desire. Not gonna lie; these guys operate like a national chain, with being able to book my appointment online, to the text and emailed reports of your vehicle work / inspection being done and what they've found, but they feel like a little neighbourhood shop. The staff are personable, friendly and professional. It doesn't feel like they're trying to set you up, and they do the work that you ask them to do. The reports are easy to read, so that you know what you might want to schedule for the next bit of work, and you can talk to them about approximate costs, so that you're ready for it. They do the work they say they're going to do, and on time, and they text and call you, to make sure that you're completely aware of what's going on. Let's face it; keeping a car on the road is pricey, but the folks at MRI don't hold you hostage, trying to bleed you for everything they can. They do the inspection, give you a rated list of what work they're recommending, and why, and you can do what you want with that info. We've been taking our vehicles here for over a decade, and I see no reason to stop. We're 5 cars in, and they've treated us really well on every single one.

It would have been nice to receive an update on my vehicles status throughout the day. I was also hoping to get a brake down of my the service that was completed. Things like checking tire pressure, tread depth, and letting me know if other fluid levels and battery strength were checked would have been really nice to know. At very little notice I needed my tire fixed (puncture) and even though they were all booked up he fit me in and in less than 2 hours my tire was fixed just before they closed on a Friday. I brought my 08 Honda Pilot for a leak diagnose and repair. I knew a high pressure power steering hose was leaking, but wasn’t sure if this was the only culprit. I dropped the car off and left. Later, I got a call from Jim who confirmed what was causing the leak and provided me with a quote, which I found reasonable (I am confident better than anything I would get at the dealership). Initially, he explained the car may not be ready for pickup by end of day, but to my surprise it was. This shop is not the closest to where I live, but I would definitely consider them for future repairs. They seem honest, knowledgeable and fair with their quotes: qualities that are very hard to find in this industry. Another great service by this shop! I brought my brother-in-law’s 2010 F150 because he no heat or AC. They quickly diagnosed the issue and determined the actuator was defective and had to be replaced. They gave me a quote and ended up charging me for less than what was quoted. These guys are super honest. Keep up the great work! I will keep recommending this place to friends and family.

I clipped a curb and blew out the sidewall on a tire. Went for my spare but remembered that I taken the jack out of my car. Turns out I was in the parking lot of this NAPA. They quickly popped on the spare ( like 5 mins). I ordered 2 tires and they were installed the next day. Outstanding service.

Cost me $265 to replace the car's blown fuse due to a shortout caused by wire connection for the trailer. The electrical connecton was replaced. When it was all done then I was told the car had no converter for the brake lights to work on the trailer. At the end of the day I could not use the trailer.

We went there to do an out of province inspection of my son's car. We had a very well maintained Honda Accord. Gentleman told us that there would be 189.95$. Though it was higher than others but since it was close to our home so we agreed. Now the game started. Next day he called and said that one ball joint is to be replaced and a light bulb as well. He gave us an estimate of 830$ including 74 $ shop supplies. We were taken aback. But agreed reluctantly. Next day he called again and asked for another 650$ to change the other ball joint. Now things became clear that he will want even more. We went to him and told him that we will repair the other joint elsewhere and come back to you. He said if you come back in 10 days than he will charge 80$ more and if later than 10 days than 189.95 more. We went to a auto repair shop working nationwide, who told us that the other ball joint is normal and they did our inspection without finding any defect. If you want to get out of province inspection of a well maintained car here, you must keep at least 2000$ in your pocket to satisfy their needs.

Hello Zahid, I'm sorry that the service on your vehicle didn't go as expected, but I can assure you that we don't play games with your car, nor your money. Indeed, your Honda was in in good condition except for a worn right upper ball joint and a burnt out bulb. After replacing the worn ball joint, a wheel alignment is required to pass inspection. During the wheel alignment the camber angle on the opposite side of the suspension was found to be out by more than 1 degree negative, but it is not adjustable. This would result in abnormal tire wear. The aftermarket however, offers an adjustable ball joint that can be used to correct the camber. This is the most cost-effective way to fix this issue and that is why we recommended the second (left side) ball joint be replaced, not because it was worn beyond specification. This was all explained but you showed up to take the car away. Regarding the other shop finding that the ball joint in question was not worn? That would be correct, we were not recommending replacement of the second ball joint because it was worn, rather to adjust alignment angles. Had they performed a wheel alignment they would have discovered the camber was out of spec. The end result is that you will experience abnormal tire wear because the negative camber is still present on your car. The other shop should not have passed your inspection without knowing all the facts. We would be happy to perform the correct repair for you, if you so desire. Feel free to call the shop to discuss.

Don't follow repeated instructions well. Agreement was to call with price and diagnostic before any go ahead, my phone call ended up being a nearly $200 bill instead. An hour work charged for a 5 min job, and replaced fluid that was just filled 2 days prior. Then spoke to me like I was too dumb to understand mechanics. Oh, added bonus, loved the cigarette smell upon entering my vehicle. Do not recommend.

Your feedback, while not positive, helps make us better. We have reviewed our policies and procedures as we want to ensure that communications with our clients are excellent. Between the bay time to thaw out the frozen washer fluid system (overnight), draining the weak windshield washer antifreeze, filling the system with 4 litres of fresh -40 degree washer fluid, performing testing of the washer system front & rear including that switches function correctly, washer pumps function correctly, reservoirs are not cracked and/or leaking, washer fluid lines were not cracked and/or leaking, etc, finding the rear washers not working, determining the cause of the rear washer pump not functioning, repairing a washer fluid line to the rear pump, yes, you were charged an invoice total of $155.02. My sincerest apology for any cigarette smell. We do have no smoking policy in our shop and customer vehicles, which was also reviewed. Took the car for inspection, they called me and said the flex pipes needs to be replaced Total bill to get the car fixed and certified cost $5200 plus tax. I refused the service, took the car to another shop, they fixed the car, removed the broken flex pipes and installed news ones and certified the vehicle for $500 bucks including the inspection fees. Always ask for second opinion!

And the guy just starightly said "We don't sell them, Unfornately Douglasdale is the nearest" and I was like 😳 the heck you said you do air & cabin replacement but you don't sell them? While we do replace air and cabin filters while servicing our clients vehicles, we have to order them in from a local NAPA AUTOPARTS store. Over the counter parts sales are not normal for us. While we could have ordered a cabin filter in for you, it might be more advantageous for you to pick one up from a NAPA AUTOPARTS store because of pricing considerations. This story begins when I call and book a appointment with, what I now know was a call center representative. A very nice and enthusiastic individual who was very helpful and answered all my questions. I had assumed that this was someone who was actually in the store as they quoted me $165 for the inspection. A fair(ish) price for an inspection, but something that I needed done for my own peace of mind. So I took time off my work to run down there and once I arrived I was quoted $230 (ish, I was so shocked that I am not able to recall the exact price but it was close to that). I had told him that I was quoted $165 and he asked who I spoke with, at the time, did not know who exactly I had spoke with. He pulled up the log and said that I spoke to a call center representative... I was wondering why that was a point of contention, shouldn't they be up on current prices and services considering they were a NAPA representative. He then said , "we changed the prices over a month ago". If that was so, then why was I speaking to someone who quoted me $165, make no mistake either this person works for the same company, this was not a unrelated phonecall. He then said that "he could do it for $165... BUT after GST it was going to be $195-$200". GST in this province is 5%, $165 after tax is $173 so there's $22-27 that seems to be missing there. What he should have said was, "I'll give you $30 off" which is at least honest. I cannot afford this kind of price hike, I had the $165 budgeted out and couldn't budge on this price. Beyond my time being wasted or a "innocent" mistake being made, how can I trust someone to bring me peace of mind when they can't honestly answer a clerical question. If this was the kind of service they provided in the front-office I could only imagine how the auto service might have been. I decided to leave as I could not afford it. Read the other reviews too, this is not an uncommon occurrence. I will not return to any NAPA store, especially not this one.

I had an issue with a loose bolt in the front suspension on my Dodge Caravan following repairs at a Napa Autopro location in Saskatchewan. I called the Napa warranty line and they sent me to this location. The service was excellent. They had my vehicle checked and repaired within a couple of hours and even provided a courtesy vehicle so I could get my grandson from school. I didn’t have to do anything except tell them where the original service was done and my name and address. They handled the warranty stuff. Very friendly and helpful. Made a difficult situation as painless as possible.

Don't bother with this place unless you like wasting time just to get a run around. I made an appointment to have my AC looked at. The day of my appointment, they called to inform me that their machine was down so they rebooked my appointment. The day of my rebooked appointment, I arrived at their shop just to find out that their machine was still down because they're waiting on a part to fix it but no one had bother to even call me to tell let me know.

They work quickly and keep you up to date on what’s going on as well as sending you pictures explaining the issues I have a European vehicle and it’s extremely difficult to find a shop that is able to diagnose and work on it. They had no issues whatsoever and will definitely be bringing my car back in the future.

I dropped off my vehicle at 8:30am for change out of summer tyres and have winter tyres, already on rims, fitted. I received a call later in the morning to advise that one lug nut was damaged and asking for approval of the minor cost to replace. I picked up my vehicle shortly afterwards, all work complete to my satisfaction. The service at MRI is excellent, the staff are friendly and are knowledgeable. I have been taking my vehicles to MRI Autopro for more than five years and have not had any issues with quality of workmanship. Work is always approved prior to commencing and I have never had a surprise item on my bill. The people at MRI are honest and reliable, and the cost of repairs is reasonable.

This was my first experience with MRI. Justin provided updates and estimates for repairs so I could decide how to proceed. The full vehicle inspection outlined in an email with photos was a nice touch. I wouldn't hesitate to return or refer others to MRI.

Along with other work I asked MRI Autocare Sundance for the windshield wipers to be looked at. I was told they worked fine. Upon a second inspection I was told the assembly was completely broken and would have to be replaced. ??. Cost was quoted at $547.00 plus installation. Sounded a little out, so I checked online. The NAPA part was in stock and $256, delivered to my door. Found another parts supplier with exactly the same part # and 9 in stock, for $114 delivered in 4 days. I was told that the only one available was is Vancouver and that MRI Sundance checked for used ones on the market and none were available. Disappointed with this extreme markup(480%), after five years of doing business with MRI Sundance.

Low tire pressure only required air no punctures and no charge. Diagnostic showed battery was failing. Replaced battery. Very professional friendly. Explained clearly what was needed and why.

I booked my vehicle in for an insurance inspection report. A couple of items were identified that were needing to be addressed in order to pass the inspection. The service rep was very informative and did not make me feel pressured to have any "non-safety" issues completed immediately. I have been very impressed with the customer service to date and will be booking my vehicle in again for the remaining items that need fixing. I will absolutely be recommending this shop to anyone that asks me for recommendations on a vehicle repair shop!

They do an "inspection" and want to rip you off for unnecessary rapair. When you get an estimate from them compare it to the estimate from the honest mechanic.
